Comment: I work at Kohl's and they play quite a bit of Christian rock all year round on their music system. They mix in some real Christmas music, traditional and updated during the Christmas season and have lots of Christmas trees on display. We're not instructed either way on how to address Christmas with customers, but no matter where we work, if we pray for the right words, I believe God will protect us in what we do on the job. I will be more mindful in using the words Merry Christmas with customers after reading these comments!

We do not have a "Christian Bookstore" so I have not been able to replace my broken one. But I could not find -not one- "Christmas" card only lots of "holiday wishes" cards.

Comment: I recently had a very pleasant experience at Kohl's on Saturday, December 12th in Lee's Summit, MO. The jeweler cashier greeted her customers with Merry Christmas! I thought it was her personal thing, but was amazed at her zeal... but, when I finally checked out at the “regular” line, my cashier said "Merry Christmas!" I was so amazed that I thanked her. She didn’t understand why some people got offended with the true meaning of Christmas and thanked me for thanking her. I was truly amazed!

Comment: From all the ads I got by mail the last weekend (50+)only 3 had the words Christmas on them and Kohl's was one of them. The other ones were Sears, which I already submitted a review for, and Rite Aids, but that one is not on the list of retailers to be rated. I will look for my gifts there first. I'll support these retailers for as long as they acknowledge the reason for the season.

Comment: All of the Kohl's stores in Northern, Virginia avoid using the word Christmas. I personally spoke to the store manager at the Leesburg, VA location and expressed my concern at the chain's unwillingness to display any ads or posters that say "Merry Christmas". The store manager seemed indifferent about any change or request to change this policy and I was adviced to send an e-mail to Kohl's on-line. I like Kohl's but their unfriendliness to Christmas in the Northern Virginia area is undeniable.

Comment: I found this store to be mostly Christmas friendly. They displayed the words Merry Christmas in many of their displays. And when checking out I said Merry Christmas to clerk and she seemed pleasently suprised. She smiled widly said "Thank You" and wished me a Merry Christmas too. Some stores are forbidding their employees to say Merry Christmas lest they offend someone. Also they had quite a few Christmas decorations that depicted Christian themes such as angels, manger scene snow globes, crosses, etc.

Comment: Above and Beyond: The mother's group I am a part of wanted to show Christ's love to a group of single moms who have very little reason to celebrate on a regular basis. We arranged for a special day of shopping and pampering- Kohls went above and beyond, walking each lady down a red carpet upon arrival and escorting them to their own dressing room- name and all. Then they continued to serve them throughout the entire experience. To top it off, they sent five of their employees to babysit the children during a special dinner that evening. WOW!

Several of us say "Merry Christmas" to customers we see regularly and who reply in kind. Followup Comment: Kohl's has contacted me and stated that they will be saying merry Christmas in their advertising this year and I just received an ad from them that said Christmas. So, keep it up!!! Keep speaking out and standing up for Christ's birthday. Merry Christmas to all!

Comment: Not a single mention of Christmas or even the "holidays". Just a retailer eager to relieve me of my money.

Comment: I believe Kohl's has paid attention to our requests for 'Christmas' mentions. Today my newspaper circular had 'Christmas' written right on the top of the front page.

Comment: In our ad, Kohl's is calling tomorrow "Super Christmas Saturday" and the email I received from them refers to the "25 Days of Christmas Deals." It made me glad that I shopped there today. I recommend dropping off or mailing a card to the manager of each store where you notice they are calling it Christmas. Let them know that you noticed and that you care.

Comment: The good ol' Happy Holidays and I said to cashier oh .... How sad I didn't know Kohls doesn't let you say Merry Christmas. Doesn't matter what anyone says it will be Christmas to me ...besides love was born on Christmas day can't you feel it in the air?

Comment: Two years ago we had a campaign to bring back Merry Christmas signes. I went to Kohl's about using Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas. I called and let the company and shared why this was a very special time of the year to recognize Jesus Christ birthday. Kohl's, receptive. I know that our voices do make a differnce.

Comment: I've received Kohls advertisements, have seen the ads on TV and stopped in the store in Pasadena, TX. None of these have had the word Christmas anywhere. The TV ads seem to specifically avoid any mention of Christmas - they show snow flakes and talk about giving the right gift, etc. They also do not mention the typical "Happy Holidays" as if to make it ok, but this is offensive in itself. Not only will I not shop Kohls at Christmas, but will not shop there at any other time.
